Fakenham Film Festival 2026 Present: SpaceBop

A Red Carpet Pop-up Event for Award-winning Young Filmmakers’ New Sci-fi Comedy

Active Fakenham, through Fakenham Film Festival 2026, is delighted to support a special red carpet pop-up event for the first screening of SpaceBop, an exciting new sci-fi comedy created by pupils from Burnham Market Primary School, with support from Alderman Peel High School and a team of industry professionals.
Space exploration is the theme of the new film, which marks Burnham Market Primary School’s second major film production. The school won Best Film at the Into Film Awards last year for S.I. Superficial Intelligence, which explored the potential dangers of artificial intelligence. Inspired by that success, the children have been working on this ambitious new project, with pupils involved in every aspect of the film’s creation.
The premiere will take place at Central Cinema Fakenham on Tuesday 7 July 2026.
Private performance: 6.00pm Public performance: 6.45pm Venue: Central Cinema Fakenham Cinema website: https://www.fakenhamcinema.co.uk/ Tickets: Available in advance and on the night

About the film
SpaceBop is a student-led sci-fi comedy exploring themes of communication, acceptance and never underestimating the unassuming.
As Ash Williams, Senior Teacher at Burnham Market Primary School, explained:
“It’s a sci-fi comedy with themes around communication, acceptance, and never to underestimate the unassuming. Essentially, we aimed for Star Trek and accidentally made our own version of Red Dwarf!”

Celebrating young creativity
Active Fakenham is pleased to help bring this special red carpet pop-up screening to Fakenham as part of its wider work supporting community events, creativity, culture and local participation.
This event is part of Fakenham Film Festival 2026’s programme of pop-up events, helping to celebrate Norfolk filmmaking, encourage young creative talent and bring film experiences to audiences in the heart of the town.
A professional-style production
While professional help has been on hand, the Burnham Market children have been at the heart of the project, with pupils involved in every aspect of the film’s creation.
Around 40 pupils have taken on roles across the production, including acting, set design, costume, filming, visual effects and lighting, mirroring a professional film crew.
The project has also received support from a number of professionals and organisations, including Industrial Light & Magic, Bridge Command in London, composer Simon Limbrick, and actor/director Callum Adkins.
In February, a group of pupils travelled to London to film at Bridge Command, using a full spaceship set and capturing more than 150 shots in a single day of filming. Further scenes, model shots and effects sequences were then completed back at school, alongside an original musical score created by pupils working with Simon Limbrick.
Red carpet premiere
The premiere at Central Cinema Fakenham will be supported by Active Fakenham and Fakenham Film Festival 2026.
The evening will include a red carpet welcome, photos and a question-and-answer session celebrating the work of the young cast and crew.
Ash Williams added:
“It’s been an incredibly exciting project, and one of the most ambitious productions we’ve undertaken.”
Join us for a very special red carpet pop-up event celebrating young creativity, filmmaking and local talent.
