Fakenham Arts Festival 2026 to Bring Art and Colour to the Town Centre

Fakenham Arts Festival 2026 to Bring Art and Colour to the Town Centre

Fakenham Arts Festival 2026 will run throughout August, and Active Fakenham is already planning a number of new initiatives to build on the success of last year’s festival.

One of the new projects being planned is a town centre decoration scheme, which aims to improve a prominent area of the town and bring more art into public spaces.

As part of FAF26, Active Fakenham hopes to paint some tired-looking boards in the passageway that runs from the Market Place to the historic Parish Church, creating a much smarter and more attractive backdrop. This would provide a long-term improvement to an area that would benefit from some care and attention.

During the Arts Festival, the newly painted boards would also be used to display artwork. The current plan is to feature images of local artists’ work, probably printed onto removable aluminium panels. These could then be taken down at the end of August, left in place for longer, or replaced with other works in the future.

Richard Crook from Active Fakenham said:

“We are very much looking forward to this year’s Active Fakenham Arts Festival, and some of us have been working hard behind the scenes to build on the enormous success of FAF25.

“This project would be a real benefit to the town. It is one of a number of new initiatives we are planning for this year, and we will be announcing others soon.

“There may well be a discussion to be had about what happens at the end of August — whether we remove the art panels, leave them in place for longer, or replace them with other works. The important thing is that the boards themselves would be improved, giving a lasting benefit beyond the festival.”

FAF26 is already shaping up to be another exciting celebration of local creativity. Active Fakenham currently has 39 artists and 48 town centre venues involved in this year’s festival, helping to bring the town to life through art. The organisers are now preparing to close the lists and move on to marketing the festival.

There is no cost for venues or artists to take part.

Richard added:

“If any artists involved in the festival would like to be part of this town centre display project, please contact me as soon as possible. We are also looking for two more sponsors for the festival and would be delighted to hear from any businesses or organisations that would like to support FAF26.”

Active Fakenham would also like to thank all the supporters, sponsors, artists, venues and volunteers who help make the Arts Festival possible.
