EVENT OVERVIEW

Welcome to the third Fakenham Criterium races. These will be run on closed roads round the picturesque North Norfolk town centre on an approx. 1k circuit.  The event is being run by Active Fakenham with the help of the local club the East Coast Riders and others from around Norfolk.

The town centre will be closed to traffic for the day. Events will include British Cycling licenced cycle races for various ages and abilities, a 1K Easter Fun run, a 5K RunEngland mixed ability road race and local organisations running stalls and activities.

Criterium races cover most abilities from youth to National B (E,1, 2, 3) and a cat 4 race and this year includes a women’s race.

Numbers will be limited to 45 per race as the one kilometre course is challenging with some tight corners, narrow roads and various surfaces, but with some fast straights and slight hills.

There will be a small change to the course for 2018 as there are some building works taking place.  The course will be one of the following and will be confirmed in January.

Fakenham Criterium Route round back of hsbc 27 March 2016 (2)

Electronic Race Results by Norfolk Cycle Race Judging will ensure that every rider is given a finishing position using the MyLaps Transponder System. A Transponder will be attached to the front forks. As a result, even if there are spaces, entries on the day may not be accepted.

When you register a box will pop up asking you to enter your transponder number. Simply enter HIRE if you do not have one. This will need to be paid for on the day.

Transponders can be purchased from www.mylaps.com/en/products/prochip-flex/241 or from norfolkcycleracejudging@yahoo.co.uk  up to 7 days prior. They can be hired on the day for £5. Transponders can be used at other race meetings using the MyLaps system.

There will be stalls with food and local organisations showcasing their services with things to see and do. There is limited space for branded gazebos and official cars in the pit area, please contact the organisers.

Toddle’n’Trike

This race is for under-fives.  They can bring a tricycle, balance bike or just make their way round the course on foot.  It’s a fun, non-competitive race round 100 metre course in the town centre.  Every child gets a free goody bag and medal.  Places are limited and a responsible adult must accompany the child.  Entry is £2 per child accompanying adults free.
