Get Active in Fakenham 20th August to 28th August
August in Fakenham is a great chance to try new things or just join in with some special Fakenham events. Get Active in Fakenham Week, 2016 starts with a Launch Event in the market place from 10.00 until 2.00pm on Saturday 20th August with inflatables, a bungee run, tea and cakes in the square, activities and stalls aimed at showing what is to come in the following eight days. The week is organised and hosted by local people and organisations to showcase what the town has to offer.
Richard Crook, Active Fakenham Coordinator said, “This year we have over forty fantastic opportunities over the nine days ranging from sports to writing workshops, free open days and storytelling to music, martial arts and dancing. There are things to do for all ages and abilities. The ever popular Fakenham Duck Race along the beautiful river Wensum is on Sunday the 21st and the week ends with the Fakenham 50 cycle ride for all levels with rides ranging from 15 to 100 and an all-day event with barbecue, music, bar, tea and cakes in the Community Centre garden.
Other things taking place include introductions to social media, free table tennis play and coaching, writing for children, Balkan dancing, touch rugby, gym open days, Aquafit, Smoothie bikes, markets, the Fakenham Fair, outdoor fun military circuits, netball, Samurai Arts, cookery demonstrations and more. All events are new, low cost or free but many require booking and some have very limited numbers”.
Some activities will book up and have limited places so it’s advisable to book early. Leaflets are available throughout the town and free with the Fakenham Sun. Further information is available on the Active Fakenham Website, Twitter and Facebook.
